The Monday night traditional instrumental music session in Durham City has been an institution for many decades now. Here, the standard session repertoire (mostly Irish and Scottish) has been taken many steps further, by a flood of new compositions in the traditional style. This particular session is probably unique for its sheer volume of new tunes which have been composed, and spread far and wide, by regular session members over the years. Several of those Durham composers have tunes featured in this book.
